Innovation breeds success
Innovation and technological advancements have always been and will always remain the strength of Audi. NSU focused on a new rotary engine, the Wankel, but failed to go through with it due to reliability issues. However, this led to a brilliant idea: combining DKW's front-wheel drive expertise with Audi's rear-wheel drive mastery on the same production car.

Military applications were aplenty, which could not be said for mainstream products: it was easier to build a four-wheel drive machine from a FWD car than the other way around. Engineers from Auto Union and Audi therefore joined forces to create the quattro models.

The famous quattro of Michèle Mouton.

Much to the surprise of competitors, Michèle Mouton made these cars famous by winning the 1981 San Remo Rally and helping the automaker win the 1982 World Rally Championship. Since then, Audi has never looked back.

Museum Mobile
To learn more about the amazing story of Audi, I encourage you to visit the Museum Mobile, in Ingolstadt, Germany. Representatives will greet you with a smile and guide you through the various exhibits. Established in 1998, the Audi Tradition program is a great way to look back at 100+ years of Audi history. I personally want to thank Director Thomas Frank and Communications Manager Peter Kober.
