One year after the Volt won the same award

Unsurprisingly, the all-new Chevrolet Bolt EV took home of the coveted 2017 Canadian Green Car Award during a special ceremony at the Green Living Show in Toronto. It was also named 2017 North American Car of the Year back in January.

For Chevrolet, history repeats itself. If you remember, the Volt won the 2016 Canadian Green Car Award a year ago.

“It’s a true honour for Chevrolet to be recognized again with the Canadian Green Car Award, with Volt in 2016 and now the game-changing Bolt EV in 2017,” said Matthew Stokes, assistant brand manager, Chevrolet in Canada. “Chevrolet is committed to innovation and electrification and we are proud to sell more plug-in electric vehicles in Canada than any other brand.”

Now in its fifth year, the Canadian Green Car Award recognizes vehicles that offer impressive "green" attributes combined with strong mass-market appeal (since any product can have a significant environmental impact only if it sells in large numbers). Criteria such as fuel economy, emissions, price, driving experience, value, and equipment are considered.

The Chevrolet Bolt EV beat out the Volt, Hyundai IONIQ Hybrid, Honda Civic, Jaguar XE 20d, and Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid.
