Class-leading tech means serious capability on any terrain

The all-new Chevy Colorado ZR2, unveiled this week at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show, might just be the ultimate tool for midsize pickup enthusiasts who need or simply like to venture far away from the beaten path as no other truck in this segment offers more off-road technology.

In fact, the company claims it opens a new segment of its own.

The Chevy Colorado ZR2 was developed and honed at new off-road test areas at General Motors’ Yuma, Arizona Proving Ground―including high-speed desert sand trails, low-speed, loose river rock crossings, and steep, technical hill climbs and descents.

Some of the highlights include:

  • - Much wider tracks and 2” raised suspension;
  • - Functional rockers for better performance over rocks and obstacles;
  • - Modified front and rear bumpers for better off-road clearance;
  • - Front and rear electronic locking differentials with new “Off-Road Mode” button;
  • - First off-road application of Multimatic Dynamic Suspensions Spool Valve (DSSV) damper technology.
  • - 31” Goodyear Duratrac off-road tires

The Chevy Colorado ZR2 can be powered by a 3.6L V6 rated at 308 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque or a class-exclusive Duramax diesel engine producing 181 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. It will tow up to 5,000 lbs and carry 1,100 lbs. of payload.

Pricing will be announced at a later date.
