The day after DaimlerChrysler CEO Dieter Zetsche was strongly criticized by shareholders, the Chrysler Group announced its best ever month of sales outside North America.
In a strange twist of fate, the Dodge brand actually led international sales growth and the month of March marked the 22nd consecutive month of year over year sales growth. So far, the first quarter of 2007 is 13% stronger than the same period last year. Leading the pack at Chrysler is the new Dodge Caliber, followed by the Grand Cherokee and Chrysler 300. Likewise, sales are actually fair in North America, good in Canada, so far this year.
This news comes on the heels of the announcement that Chrysler, since yesterday, is officially for sale. Rumours have hovered over the potential sale of the company for months as news spread wildly when it appeared as though GM was interested in acquiring its rival. It seems as though there is still a number of groups and partners interested in Chrysler.
According to various sources, Chrysler has a street value of between 6 and 9 billion dollars.
