I was highly fortunate to receive the opportunity of witnessing this for myself, and in being part of the team who can now boast having built the 100-millionth small-block Chevy V8.
However, you too could turn the wrenches at Wixom. In fact, many Corvette ZR1 owners do, as the company offers a Build-Your-Own program where customers can assemble their own motor in the plant before being fitted to their new vehicle. There is also a similar program in effect for crate sales, so if you still haven’t got around to purchasing your new small block for that hot-rod sitting in your garage, now might be a good time to do it!
