Dakar: Nasser Al Attiyah takes another win as Sainz breaks suspension

Nasser Al Attiyah (Volkswagen) chas closed in on a victory at the Dakar after taking the win in Thursday’s stage, while his teammate and main rival Carlos Sainz lost about an hour to fix a broken suspension.

Al Attiyah took the overall rally lead on Monday, and now enjoys a 51-minute advantage over his other teammate Giniel de Villiers, who moved up to second ahead of Sainz who droppe down to third.

Friday, the drivers will face the last main series of difficulties of the event in stage 12, held between San Juan and Cordoba, before they will reach Buenos Aires for the finish on Saturday.
