As announced in December, BMW is launching a more-powerful version of its Z4 roadster. The sDrive35is is powered by a boosted twin-turbo 3.0-litre inline-6, which will be good for 340 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque, all sent to the rear wheels via the company's 7-speed dual-clutch sequential transmission. BMW claims a 0-100 km/h time of 4.8 seconds.

Also on display is the ActiveHybrid X6 which we drove back in November, as well as the ActiveHybrid 7, which is powered by a twin-turbo V8 combined with an electric motor, and mated to an 8-speed automatic. Total output is rated at 465 hp and 516 lb-ft, and BMW claims a fuel consumption average of 9.4 L/100 km.

BMW also unveiled a North America-only version of its 3-Series Coupe. The 335is will get M Sport enhancements and the 340-hp engine of the Z4 sDrive35is, while the dual-clutch transmission will be available.

Finally, the Concept ActiveE is an fully-electric study based on the 1-Series coupe. Powered by an electric motor that develops 170 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque, the car remains a 4-seater with 200 litres of trunk space.

BMWs are all about performance, and electric or not, the Concept ActiveE must include dynamic driving characteristics. Zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) is reached in about 9 seconds, according to the German manufacturer, while top speed is limited at 145 km/h (90 mph).

The car's range is expected to be about 160 km (100 miles) on a single charge. Charging times in North America with a high-current wall box is 4.5 hours.
