Roush-Fenway driver Carl Edwards (Ford No 99) won the UAW-Dodge 400 race at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, way ahead of crowd favorite Dale Earnhardt (Chevy No 88) and team mate Greg Biffle (Ford No 16) in a race that was marked by eleven yellow flag situations, mostly because of tire problems.

Tony Stewart (Toyota No 20) was one of those victims on lap 107. Unfortunately, Quebec's Patrick Carpentier (Dodge No 10) had to settle for the 40th place at the finish after being tagged by the Daytona 500 winner, Ryan Newman (Dodge No 12) and ending up in the inner wall.

Other crowd favorite Jeff Gordon lost his ride (Chevy No 24) a few laps before the end while Sprint Cup defending champion Jimmie Johnson (Chevy No 48) finished 29th with an ill-handling car.

Edwards now leads the championship (491 points) followed by Kyle Busch (Camry No 18 and 470 points) and Ryan Newman (450 points).
