Just like Jaime Alguersuari and Sébastien Buemi, Adrian Sutil and Vitaly Petrov, Bruno Senna was left gutted when he heard he had no drive for next season. However Ayrton's nephew is adamant his stock has raised.

"It raised my profile massively in F1," Senna told Autosport.com.

He did qualify in the top 10 four times out of the eighth races he did for Lotus Renault in 2011. He also scored his first ever point by finishing 9th in the Italian Grand Prix. Being demoted of his race drive at the season still left the Brazilian upbeat. After all, his more experienced team-mate Vitaly Petrov was also turned down – even though he had a contract in his pocket.

"Of course it was disappointing not to be [signed] because there is good potential in the team, but it was not something that we were particularly surprised about. We had been looking at other options as we knew that it was not safe."

Senna is therefore looking to the future with more enthusiasm than ever before.

"So it was a great opportunity because before that I only had whatever was left as an image from 2010. Now, my profile has been raised and it's massively higher than it has ever been. Overall, it means I'm in a better position now even though the seat is not mine."
