Finland's Kimi Raikkonen returned in the cockpit of a Formula 1 car Monday after a two-year absence as
he drove a two-year old Renault R30 at Valencia's Ricardo Tormo circuit, Spain.

Raikkonen left Formula 1 at the end of the 2009 season when he was dropped by the Scuderia Ferrari.
He competed in the World Rally Championship for Citroen (driving for the Junior Team in 2010 and as a privateer in 2011) and then tried NASCAR oval racing last summer, contesting a round of the Camping World Truck series followed by a race in the Nationwide series.

He will be racing for the Lotus F1 Team this season. He re acclimatised himself with F1 driving a two-year old R30 fitted with Pirelli's demonstration-spec tires to avoid the team breaking the test ban rule. The car was painted to the famous black and gold Lotus livery.

Raikkonen is scheduled to drive the 2012 Lotus F1 car at Jerez de la Frontera early February.
