According to British publication Autosport, Nick Wirth, the technical director of Virgin Racing F1 team, said his company would cover the expenses for modifying the VR-01 chassis.

The small, Cosworth-powered British F1 team Virgin has been forced to increase the size of its VR-01’S fuel tank after it discovered that the capacity was not enough to reach the end of the races comfortably.

Nick Wirth’s company Wirth Research is currently working on new chassis that are expected to be introduced at the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona.

However, this means that Virgin Racing has to contest the Malaysian and Chinese Grands Prix with a fuel tank too small.

The British engineer indicated it was down to his company to supply the Virgin team with a car that can reach the end, so it will not be charging the team for the new composite monocoques.
