Rémy Audette only needed to take the start of one of the two F2000 races presented at Watkins Glen, October 15th and 16th to earn the championship. Not even the mechanical problems he suffered could stop him.
Audette therefore became the first Québec driver to win the American F2000 title.
He was hoping to close the books on Saturday, but the first race of the weekend was postponed to Sunday, after one of the cars sustained a heavy crash in the early laps.
Audette took the start of the two races held on Sunday and accomplished what he set out to do – win the championship. And he did so in style, earning a pole and two podiums in the year's finale.
“I lost a few positions because of mechanical issues. Still, finishing third is a great way to end the season”, the Blainville-native said.
