Fiat Chrysler Automobiles’ (FCA) top boss, Sergio Marchionne, continues to seek a merger with another top automaker despite his previous failed attempts.

Last year, General Motors CEO Mary Barra completely shut the door on a possible GM-FCA merger, while rumours of an alliance between Volkswagen and FCA were greatly exaggerated.

Now, Automotive News Europe reports that Marchionne has his sights on Ford, Toyota, and once again Volkswagen. And he would like said merger to occur by the end of 2018, which is when he’s scheduled to step away.

"The door [on mergers] never closed, the need to consolidate does not go away," Marchionne apparently told journalists at a shareholder meeting in Amsterdam on April 15th.

What about Hyundai and Kia? They are certainly big enough to make a merger worthwhile, but "the Koreans don't get married," he said.

Who do you think FCA should merge with? We’d really like to get your opinion!
