TORONTO — Goodyear Canada, Canada's leading manufacturer of quality tires, today announced plans for an event that will test the endurance, will-power and concentration of a select group of students from universities across Canada — in a way no exam has ever challenged them before. The Goodyear Hands of Fans Challenge, which kicks off on Thursday, October 25th in Vancouver, Edmonton, Toronto, Montreal and Halifax, challenges university hockey team players and fans in each city to remain standing for as long as possible with one hand on a Zamboni® ice resurfacing machine.

The overall winner of the Goodyear Hands of Fans Challenge will receive a $5,000 tuition bursary from Goodyear Canada, and an additional $5,000 will be donated to the athletics program of his or her university. A $2,000 tuition bursary from Goodyear Canada will be awarded to the individuals who last longest in each of the four non-winning cities.

"We haven't heard about an unexpected stunt or feat undertaken by university students for some time, so we thought we'd help things along," said Ian McIntosh, director of marketing and advertising services, Goodyear Canada. "The Goodyear Hands of Fans Challenge is a uniquely Canadian endurance test, and we look forward to seeing which student from which university has what it takes to be the last man, or woman, standing."

To add to the drama, each Goodyear Hands of Fans Challenge site will be linked to the others by the Goodyear ZamCam, a webcast that will allow contestants, supporters and media to keep track of the contest from coast-to- coast as the action unfolds. The Goodyear ZamCam can be accessed at: www.insinc.com/goodyear.

"Canadian university students have always shown great spirit, and we're confident that each participant in the Goodyear Hands of Fans competition will rise to the challenge, and literally stand up for his or her school, for however many hours or days it takes," added McIntosh.
