APR Motorsport won the race for being the first team running the Audi R8 LMS in Grand-Am trim. They will step up from Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge (CTSCC) to Rolex Sports Car series and debut the car at the Daytona 24 hours, January 28-29 2012.

If the R8 LMS proves as successful in Grand-Am as it has been in other series – it's racked up over 100 race victories in Europe, Asia, Australia and South America –, this could turn out to be a smart move by APR Motorsport.

The APR name itself is also well known. It is one the biggest company specializing in Porsche-Audi-Volkswagen products.

Stephen Hooks (President and CEO of APR) is a long-time Audi passionate. A racer himself, there was little to stop his team moving from CTSCC to Rolex series racing to get his hands of the first R8.

However, this doesn't mean APR will pull out of CTSCC any time soon. An announcement regarding their involvement in Grand-Am' baby series should made soon.

The drivers for APR Motorsport's R8 have also yet to be announced.
