For Rolex Sports Car Series and Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge regular drivers, November 16-17 was the occasion to put their cars to the test, in preparation for the Rolex 24 hours. But some unexpected celebrities were also in attendance.
Established drivers Antonio Garcia and Oliver Gavin had the chance to put the brand new Daytona Prototype Corvette through its paces for the first time ever.
“The car doesn't really feel that much different than last year,” declared Garcia.
“The difference is there is a lot more room for improvement now. Once we learn this new car I think we'll be much faster everywhere.”
Other than Enzio Potolicchio's spin on Wednesday and the rain-cancelled morning sessions on Thursday, it was all very straightforward for the teams.
It therefore was the perfect occasion for former ALMS, Trans-Am and Can-Am driver, veteran Elliot Forbes-Robinson to take the 50+Racing's BMW/Riley No.50 out for a spin.
AC/DC lead singer Brian Johnson and skateboard legend Bucky Lasek also put the occasion to good use. Johnson, a renowned petrol-head, test drove the same No.50 Daytona Prototype car as Forbes-Robinson, while Lasek went out to experiment Rebel Rock Racing's No.08 Porsche GT3. The X Games regular will be running in the Continental Tire Sports Car challenge in 2012.
