3. 1957 Corvette
By the time it was four years on the market, the model had evolved esthetically. But in 1957, the big news had to do with the mechanics of the Corvette. The size of the V8 engine grew to 283 cc, and two of the five versions on offer benefited from fuel injection. That engine had a maximum output of… 283 hp. Road & track and other outlets at the time applauded the responsiveness of the engine to pressure on the accelerator.

4. 1958 Corvette
The next year saw the Corvette get a much-changed fascia. Of course there were the double headlight in front, but most strikingly the muzzle got a big redesign. The dominant feature was the chrome. False air intakes now flanked the front grille, and there even two strips of moulding on the trunk.
