Imperia Automobiles Imperia Automobiles released the specs of its all-new GP, which aims to meet the environmental needs of today's consumers, deliver the pleasure of sport driving and achieve neo-retro styling.
Its 134-hp electric motor fed by Li-Polymer batteries offers a range of about 73 kilometres and accelerations from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.0 seconds. The batteries can be preemptively charged when the vehicle is in motion.
Making the GP even more interesting is the addition of a 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged engine producing 207 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. It can assist the electric motor or take over completely when the batteries run empty (à la Chevrolet Volt). In hybrid mode, acceleration times drop to 4 seconds.
Mixed fuel consumption (gas-electricity) is rated at just 1.9 litre per 100 kilometres while CO2 emissions are below 50 g/km – the equivalent of a smart fortwo.
The Imperia GP is built on a steel spaceframe chassis and features a safety cage, a composite body, a double-wishbone suspension and 18-inch wheels.
Aesthetically, the design blends past with future in the form of striking front fenders separate from the hood, an aggressive-looking fascia and sleek lines which stand out from the conventional standards of today’s vehicles. Some will fall in love with it, others won't be too impressed, but one thing's for sure: it will never go unnoticed!
The Imperia GP will be available from 2012 with prices starting at 89,950 euros. The first units will be a special-edition model with prices starting at 120,360 euros.
