Although its main opponents have already been active on the track in the past weeks, Lotus will have its turn now as it confirms that it will conduct its own tests starting in January 2012.
With the help of HVM Racing, the Lotus-Judd engine will have its first run at the Palm Beach International Raceway on January 13-14 with Simona de Silvestro behind the wheel.
Then, the squad will be back on track along with Chevrolet and Honda for another round of testing, this time at Sebring on January 16.
HVM is working with other Lotus squads Dreyer & Reinbold and Bryan Herta Autosport in an effort to make up the ground lost by the lack of track time prior to Christmas.
Officials at HVM have also confirmed that the car would carry some sort of Lotus theme in its livery, despite being the only Lotus-aligned team not to run a black and gold colour scheme in 2012 due to an existing deal with sponsor Nuclear Clean Energy.
