As Auto123.com had reported earlier, Dallara will honor the memory of the late Dan Wheldon by naming its 2012 IndyCar single-seater the DW12.
Dallara had a close relationship with the two-time Indianapolis 500 winner, Dan Wheldon having worked in the recent months as not only a test driver but also as an important member of the team working on developing the new chassis.
"As an homage to the work Dan did, we've decided to dedicate the 2012 IndyCar Dallara to him, and from today it will be called the DW12," Gian Paolo Dallara revealed in an interview to Autosprint magazine.
