According to reports, the IndyCar Series could make a comeback to the Auto Club Speedway in California, despite its reputation of being completely desert, attendance wise.

The two-mile oval in Fontana, originally owned by Roger Penske, counts roughly 50,000 permanent seats but the three IRL races that were held at the venue between 2003 and 2005 could only draw less than 10,000 people annually.

One has to wonder why the IZOD Indycar Series would consider going back to a track that has a history of attracting very spare crowds, even during its NASCAR days.

INDYCAR currently runs two races in California: one in the streets of Long Beach and a second one on the road course of Sonoma.
