Hard to say if hippies and surfers are into LEGOs, but the Denmark-based toy brick company just released details on their newest creation, a 1962 Volkswagen T1 Camper.
Designed by John-Henry Harris, the Camper is built with 1,322 pieces and is amazingly realistic. The red and white body includes opening doors, a rounded roof, 9 windows and the opening 'splittie' front windshield. It also features a pop-up roof, while the lower rear door opens to reveal a detailed engine.
A lot of interior layouts were available in the 60s VW Camper, but Harris decided to choose the original Westfalia furnishings. You'll find a bench that folds into a bed, a sink, a folding table, an opening cupboard, plaid window curtains, a plant and even a lava lamp. The driver's seat includes a slanted steering wheel and shifter.
The 10220 Volkswagen T1 Camper Van will be on sale from October 1 via their website at http://shop.lego.com or in LEGO retail stores. It will cost $99.99 US or $129.99 CA.
