Emmanuel Collard and Julien Jousse (Pescarolo-Judd) clinched the Le Mans Series’ drivers championship after their win at the Estoril Six Hours, last round of the championship.
The Frenchmen, who stood one point behind Lola-Toyota Rebellion drivers Bellichi and Bouillon before entering this final round in Portugal, were finally crowned after they took the win in Estoril in front of their championship rivals.
The gap between the two prototypes remained very small from start to finish, until Bouillon had to stop for a refuelling in the last moments of the race.
As the battle was very intense, Pescarolo decided not to send Christophe Tinseau on the track : only Collard and Jousse were at the wheel of the Pescarolo-Judd, and were finally crowned. Rebellion took teams’ championship by just one point.
The first LMP2 car was the Oreca-Nissan TDS driven by Beche, Thiriet and Firth, who took the third position overall ahead of Greaves Motorsport’s Zytek-Nissan, who already secured the title at Silverstone.
Bell and Walker won the race in GTE Pro aboard their JMW’s Ferrari F458, but Fisichella and Bruni were already crowned in the class after Silverstone.
Nicolas Armindo and Raymond Narac took their fourth GTE Am win in-a-row with their IMSA Performance Porsche 997, which gave them the title in their category.
