Mazda begins production of the CX-9 for North American market

seating. A "line-off" ceremony was held today at the Ujina plant no. 1 in Hiroshima near the Japanese carmakers global headquarters. The event was attended by some 450 staff as well as Hisakazu Imaki, the President and CEO.

The CX-9 will go on sale alongside the CX-7 which went on sale in May. A larger machine, power will come from a V6 engine as opposed to the high-output turbocharged 4 cylinder favored in the CX-7 application.

Imaki says "CX-9 is a key model aimed at raising the visibility of Mazda in North America and will be an integral part of building the brand. Furthermore, to keep on providing the best Zoom-Zoom products that will exceed our customers' expectations around the globe, we must continue our efforts as

Originally introduced at the New York International Auto Show in April 2006, the CX-9 was praised for its unique styling which demonstrated clearly a fresh entry to the current SUV market.

The model promises customers unmatched versatility, strong dynamic performance and class leading space. Look for the CX-9 in early 2007 at a Mazda retailer near you.
