At 360.9 km/h, Children Are Less Likely to Ask "Are We There Yet?"

MG, known best to North Americans for its late '60s, early '70s MGB sports car, has delved into a much wider range of models since leaving this side of the planet.

The Brand's current ZT-T station wagon, already sporty in stock trim, has just hit the record books as the world's fastest station wagon, according to the Guinness Book of World Records. It swept the old record scorching Utah's Bonneville Salt Flats to a top speed of 360.9 km/h during the 55th annual Speed Week Nationals.

While stock in appearance, the ZT-T wagon codenamed X-15 features a Roush Performance built engine. The rumbling 6-liter V8 engine produces a whopping 765 horsepower without variable valve timing, turbochargers, superchargers or even an intercooler.

With little structural or physical modifications, the ZT-T made several flawless runs with veteran racer Pat Kinne at the wheel. On its first pass on Bonneville's 'short course', the car topped 333 km/h before making its final 360.9 km/h pass.

While this is enough to make the ZT-T the world's fastest wagon, it is still 1,249 km/h under the Bonneville Salt Flat's maximum speed limit!
