Lane-Departure Warning
This system monitors the position of your vehicle, and if you drift into the next lane and the system thinks you're not paying attention, audible and tactile warnings are triggered, such a vibration in the steering wheel.

Warning and Emergency Braking
This system monitors what's happening in front of your vehicle, and if it detects a potential collision without a reaction from the driver, it will trigger an audio and visual warning. If the driver still doesn't react, the system will slow down the vehicle on its own.

Speed Alert

Audio and visual alerts warn the driver that the speed limit has been exceeded using a camera that reads posted speed limit signalisation. This technology is not available in Canada yet, but it's in the plans.

Of course, Michael and Jacques stressed that these electronic aids shouldn't ever replace driver awareness, as they are not designed to compensate for lack of common sense behind the wheel.

Bottom line: if these eSafety technologies are available in the vehicle you're shopping for, you should seriously consider them, as they could save your life and the lives of those around you.

One brief awkward moment during the press conference: a quick-witted journalist (which obviously wasn't me) asked Schumacher if his collision with Villeneuve would've been avoided if his F1 Ferrari had been equipped with ESC. He smiled and said "Well, if it didn't happen, we wouldn't have anything to laugh about today."

Good answer.
