Yesterday Nissan Canada announced pricing on its much anticipated Maxima sedan, set to go on sale April 1. Starting at an aggressive MSRP of $34,500 for the sport-oriented 3.5 SE, $300 less than last year's 6-speed manual equipped SE, the Maxima should be well received.

Nissan will drop the entry GXE and top-line GXL models, with base prices of $33,300 and $37,000 respectively, and instead offer only one luxury version dubbed 3.5 SL. The even more upscale Maxima (no options are listed) will retail for an MSRP of $39,300.

All Maxima's will come standard with Nissan's new Skyview roof, comprised of a glass panel running lengthwise over the front and rear seats, while sporty 4-place seating with a rear center console will be optional - five seats are standard.

"The new Maxima is more stylish, refined and evolved than ever," stated Ian Forsyth, director of marketing, Nissan Canada Inc. "Maxima's Skyview roof, an industry first for the mid-size sedan segment, is a bold feature and we made it standard, while the optional 3.5 SE 4-seat model adds to the sports sedan heritage of Maxima, providing seating similar to a 2-door sports coupe."
