Jetcar Combines Design Cues from the Past and Present Day Technology

Narrow, quirky and almost as if it weren't from this planet, the Jetcar offers an alternative to conventional commuter cars. Rather than tall and wide, the current trend in automotive design, the Jetcar bucks the status quo with its low and thin proportions.

Completely and utterly unique, the Jetcar is a modern day flashback to the late '50s when countless sub 500cc microcars, now comical, putted and rolled their way out of European, Japanese and even domestic plants. But as humorous as it may appear, could the Jetcar be just what our modern bumper-to-bumper traffic jam world needs?

Long and slender, this new offering stirs memories of the oddball classic Messerschmitt TG500 and TG1000 Tigers. Starting out as a thin three-wheeled commuter, the Tiger turned out to be one of the most successful microcars during its time period, and is one of the most highly regarded, even against the BMW Isetta.

Avid gamers should easily be able to recall its presence in the hit game Grand Theft Auto 2 as the 'Schmidt', while movie buffs won't be able to put the even stranger film Brazil out of their minds, with its zany Monty Python cast and star-studded cameo appearances that included Robert Deniro. While no movie deals have been announced, and nary a game company in sight, line for line and comparing profiles, the Jetcar could very well be the Messerschmitt Tiger's modern day cousin.
