The Draw: The Fusion delivered innovative features, innovative styling, and sporty dynamics -- not to mention instantly recognizable presence on the road. Look for 4- or 6-cylinder power, manual or automatic transmission choices, and available AWD. Heated leather, navigation, a sunroof and automatic climate control were all available. Owners tended to rave about the looks, performance and handling of their rides, as well as the nicely trimmed cabin and generous at-hand storage facilities.

What to Check:
Ensure all door handles and latches (inside and out) work properly, and confirm proper operation of all door locks and both remote keyfobs. Check the trunk release for proper operation, too. Look for signs of rust around the sunroof (if equipped), and note any unwelcomed clacking or clunking sounds from the suspension that indicate the need for some attention and replacement parts. An unstable or “loose” feeling over bumps could be a sign of suspension trouble, too. Have a mechanic look for signs of rust or leaks beneath, asking him to carefully inspect the transmission and AWD assembly (if equipped) for signs of a common leak. Budget for a full fluid change and tune-up if you’re unclear of the service history of the model in question.
