Porsche has barely unveiled the new 911 (or 991) and already fresh information has surfaced on the automaker’s plans for various versions of the legendary machine.

After the introduction of the Carrera and Carrera S and their 3.4-litre mill deploying 350 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque, Porsche has a veritable avalanche of debuts in store for us in the next three years.

911 Cabriolet
The boys in Stuttgart are looking to produce a convertible version for 2012. The top will be made of three semi-rigid and extremely light panels wrapped in a furry fabric covering the cutlines.

911 Carrera 4
Coupe and 4WD convertible variants of the 911 will crop up in December 2012. A 3.8-litre, 6-cylinder engine will rumble under their hood, punching out 400 hp and 325 lb-ft.

911 Turbo and GT3
The 911 Turbo will be delivered to dealers in 2013 along with a potent 520-hp mill. A convertible sibling will follow one year later, with the GT3 on its heels. The latter should call on the services of a high-revving, naturally aspirated six.

911 Targa and Speedster

The Targa as we know it will be replaced around the end of 2013 or in early 2014. The roof will be similar to that of the second generation, featuring a removable panel and a rear window with a defroster.

Rumours point to a possible Speedster version, but Porsche hasn’t confirmed anything yet.

911 Hybrid
Porsche designed the 911 so it could accommodate a high-performance, plug-in hybrid powertrain improving CO2 emissions and fuel efficiency by at least 10%.
