Steeve Hobbs and Jean-Mathieu Tremblay won the second round of the Quebec Rally Championship this weekend at the Sanair race track.
The duo won the 20th edition of the rally in their Subaru Impreza WRX despite the cold temperature, the rain and the new track layout.
The winners of the first rally of the 2011 season in Saguenay were particularly impressive as they fell to 15th place after the first special of the event.
“The race went pretty well. We had an issue during the first special but preparation was good and the car, overall, was pretty reliable. We had a great battle with Kirouac and despite the very bad weather during the last 28km, we did well,” said Hobbs.
“It’s an important victory as it allows us to increase our lead in the point standings,” he added.
Hobbs and Tremblay finished first, 27 seconds ahead of Jeff Kirouac and Marie-Josée Lacroix.
Philippe Roberge and Éric Lachance completed the overall podium, some 45 seconds down to the winners. They were also the winner of the Jon Nichols Cup for two-wheel drive cars in their Honda Civic Group 2.
In the Quebec Cup, Sylvain Bazinet and David Legault took the win in their Honda Civic. It was their second victory of the season in two races.
