Unknown value for an unknown car
The restoration of this car was started in 2008 by Benchmark Classics, a classic car restoration company based in Madison, Wisconsin, after its president, Justin Cole, bought the car in parts. Since then, over 1500 hours were put on its reconstruction.
Preston Tucker was expecting to sell his Tucker 48 Sedan (named for the year 1948) at a starting price of $2450 US. Today, the value of a Tucker ranges anywhere between $200,000 and over 1 million US, depending on the car! In the case of the convertible, as it was not completed by the manufacturer in 1948, its value will naturally be a great topic of conversation. It will surely bring a lot of action among bidders!
This Tucker will be one of over 600 automobiles Russo and Steele will offer in Scottsdale over the five day its Arizona collector automobile auctions lasts. The event coincides with Russo and Steele tenth anniversary and will be held next January 20 to 24, at the usual site located at the intersection of the loop 101 freeway and North Scottsdale Road.
Specialized in European sports cars, American muscle cars, hot rods and customs Russo and Steele holds two auctions every year: the Arizona one in January and a second one in Monterey, California in August, in conjunction with the famed Pebble Beach Concours d’Élégance.
