Model:Range Rover Sport Supercharged
Starting Price: $89,900
Overview: Style, pedigree, and classy-as-all-heck British luxury come together in the Range Rover Sport Supercharged. Unlike many other models in our sport-ute comparo this one can actually go off-roading, too.
While there, you’ll get appreciable water wading depth, approach and departure angles, low-range gearing, and an air suspension system that can lift the body in seconds to clear obstacles. On the road more travelled, drivers get a 5.0L supercharged V8 engine with 510 horsepower and 461 lb-ft of torque. Brembo brakes supply the stopping power, and various chassis systems can be recalibrated “on the fly” to match current driver demands.
Pros: If you want hot-rod ute performance that can actually tackle a nasty trail or two, this machine will impress. The Land Rover air suspension system makes for extremely comfortable travels on any surface, too. Look for the utmost in luxury and high-tech on board, as well as a remarkably street-smart look once you hose off all of the mud.
Cons: The Sport Supercharged has a big asking price, and similarly big fuel bills if you can’t keep your foot out of the supercharger.
Noteworthy: Luxury touches? Yes. Walnut trim, a centre console beverage cooler box, heated steering wheel, and mood lighting are all fitted. Full multimedia connectivity, plenty of auxiliary power sockets and a gigantic 380-Watt stereo system are all on board, too.
