It’s now official: Subaru announced on Twitter that its all-new three-row midsize SUV will be unveiled on November 28 at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Meet the Subaru Ascent!
Picking up where the defunct Tribeca left off, the Ascent is built on Subaru’s new global architecture, and it will be assembled alongside the Outback at the company’s plant in Lafayette, Indiana. Largely derived from the Ascent concept introduced in New York this past April, it is set to hit the market in 2018, well-timed to ride the current wave of consumer interest for spacious and practical utility vehicles.
The image just published by Subaru reveals a relatively straight hatchback, a promising sign for those wanting ample cargo capacity. It’s expected that the Ascent will be powered by a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbo, and possibly as well a 3.6L 6-cylinder engine.
