While electric vehicles are slowly but surely making their way in the global car market, Tesla is preparing to become a leader in its domain. The American manufacturer today announced the hiring of four new vice-presidents - two of which have an impressive track record.
John Hillegass, now Vice-President of Design and Retail Development, previously worked for Pixar Studios, Stanford University, Hewlett-Packard, Intel and Apple, where he oversaw the development of hundreds of new stores.
For his part, Ravi Simhambhatla will assist CEO Elon Musk in his new role as Vice-President of Information Technology and Business Applications. He will increase efficiency across the company, streamline communications and help create a superior customer experience. As a founding team member and Chief Information Officer at Virgin America, Ravi led the development of the award-winning airline’s pioneering customer friendly technology platforms and the company’s website.
Consumers are probably not yet ready to go crazy for electric vehicles and let go of conventional gasoline engines, but it is clear that this is coming sooner rather than later. That is why Tesla, well aware of this, is setting itself up with all the required tools to satisfy its ambitions and perhaps become a force to be reckoned with the auto industry.
