A spokesperson for Fisker Automotive told plugincars.com that production of the Karma would start this March, but that establishing a specific delivery date would “be difficult.”
Deliveries were scheduled to begin in 2009 but were pushed back to 2010 and later to 2011. Needless to say, the delays negatively impacted dealers and potential Fisker clients.
Knowing that the car is built in Finland and supposing that production will finally go forward without a hitch, we could expect the first deliveries of the Karma in early spring in the best-case scenario.
The Fisker Karma is the first luxury plug-in hybrid available on the market. It’s powered by a 2.0-litre, turbocharged ECOTEC engine used as a generator, a lithium-ion battery pack and a rear-mounted, 403-hp electric engine. The chassis promises optimal stiffness, maximum occupant safety and impact resistance exceeding international standards.
The automaker intends to build, and sell, around 15,000 Karmas for 2011.
