1st place: Ford F-Series – 46,825 units

No surprise here. The F-Series pickup is the country’s bestselling vehicle for what seems like decades, and looking at how Ford is improving their product over recent years, its sales pace isn’t about to slow down.

For 2011, four new engines were introduced in one fell swoop, something the auto industry hasn’t seen in quite a while. And in addition to the 3.7-litre V6, the 5.0-litre V8 and the 6.2-litre V8, Ford’s new twin-turbo, 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6 provides 365 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque; this wonder motor is almost as fuel-efficient as the base 3.7L unit but can tow about as much as the 6.2L V8.

The Super Duty is also a compelling choice, with its available 6.7-litre Power Stroke turbodiesel V8 that produces 400 horsepower and 800 lb-ft of twist. Up to 24,500 lbs can be pulled with the F-450.

You can also choose special editions of the F-Series to suit your tastes or desire, such as the luxurious King Ranch, the intimidating Harley-Davidson and the SVT Raptor off-roader.
