Chevrolet Colorado / GMC Canyon Duramax

We close the books on this 2021 diesel overview with the smallest turbodiesel engine available in Canada. But no, it’s not in car or an SUV – it’s still in a truck that you find it. The only four-cylinder engine available on this list, the 2.8-litre Duramax unit still manages to deliver a respectable 186 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque.
However, the engine is an expensive option on any of General Motors’ midsize pickup trucks, which explains why you don’t see too many of these diesel variants in Canada. Note also that this engine is even available on the most off-road-friendly version of the truck, the Colorado ZR2.
