By 2025, EVs on the market will be counted not in the dozens but in the hundreds

Tesla Model Y

The Tesla brand has, since its inception, polarized opinion. Some swear by the company and its products, others swear at it. But it’s impossible to deny that it has been incredibly innovative, and just as resilient. Despite countless predictions of its pending demise, the California-based EV maker is readying a fourth model. The Model Y will slot in to the Tesla lineup between the Model 3 sedan and the Model X SUV, and feature a full-charge range of around 400 km.

We can expect to see the first Model Ys on our roads starting next year, and in fact the company has even released pricing for the various versions. The starting price for the entry-level Standard Range version of the Model Y is set at $52,000 CAD ($39,000 USD); the Long Range edition will be slightly under $63,000 CAD ($47,000 USD). From there, the price rises to $68,000 CAD ($51,000 USD) for the dual-motor AWD version, and tops out at $80,000 CAD ($60,000 USD) for the Performance trim.
