Polestar
The Polestar name first surfaced as the designation for Volvo’s performance division. Volvo parent company Geely then decided to make of it a stand-alone brand focused on electric vehicles. The first model from the banner, the Polestar 1 sedan, has already been announced and is about to go into production.
The company has also confirmed the Polestar 2 and Polestar 3, which will both fall more into the utility-model camp. The Polestar 2 is first in line in development, and it will get a range of about 500 km as well as a total output of 408 hp with all-wheel drive.
The Polestar 2 will take direct aim at the Tesla Model 3 when it launches in 2020. But don’t bother heading to a Volvo dealer to order yours - it can only be ordered online at Polestar.com. Volvo is indicating a starting price of $55,000 USD, but we’ll have to wait for a future date for pricing and trim details.
