By 2025, EVs on the market will be counted not in the dozens but in the hundreds

Porsche Macan

The success or failure of a new electric product is difficult to predict, even if some indications can be cause for optimism – or not, in certain cases. But when you take a product that is already immensely popular in its segment and you add an electric powertrain to it, you’re putting the odds pretty solidly in your favour.

Most interesting in the case of the Porsche Macan is that the company plans to make use of the new Porsche Taycan’s artillery, including its 800-volt system. We can’t wait for this one. Although for the moment, details are very scarce regarding the Macan EV; all we know is that production is supposed to get underway at some point next year.

Don’t expect this on the market until late 2020 as a 2021 model, or even in 2021 as a 2022 model, in other words. In the meantime we’ll be seeing the Taycan unleashed on the market, and probably its Cross Turismo version as well.
