Mazda CX-90

The CX-90 was the third model to receive the brand’s new “CX” nomenclature and the first to get a plug-in hybrid powertrain option; it allows for up to 42 km of full-electric driving. If you prefer a little more power over efficiency, then there’s also a turbocharged inline 6-cylinder that makes 340 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque and the longitudinal alignment of which makes for better chassis balance and handling.

Inside, we find three spacious rows of seating as standard, and since Mazda doesn’t have a luxury arm like so many of its competitors, it turns to the top trims of its models to fill that void. With the CX-90’s Signature trim, that means big alloy wheels, Nappa leather interior and a full array of electronic driver aids and parking cameras.
Nissan Pathfinder

If Honda’s Pilot isn’t quite to your taste but you still want a little ruggedness for your ride, Nissan has an alternative for you to consider: the Pathfinder Rock Creek edition. It gets dark wheels shod with off-road tires and badging, as well as earthy colour choices such as Baja Storm two tone and Obsidian Green Pearl.
All Pathfinders get V6 power as well as three rows of seating with a tilt-and-slide second row that allows for third row access even if you have child’s seats installed. The Pathfinder is also one of the roomiest vehicles in the segment.
