Since its 2011 redesign, the Ford Explorer has been a perennial best-seller in its class. Last year was an exception to this rule, however, as the expected 2020 models were delayed in the fall due to a multitude of issues. This meant that the outgoing 2019 model didn’t benefit from a normal full year of sales to draw on.

This explains the Explorer’s 10th position in Canada with only 9,667 sales, a drop of 47.14 percent compared to 2018. In the U.S. its drop was less dramatic, but still significant, as it placed fourth with 187,061 sales, for a decrease of 28.5 percent. Things will surely start to look up for the model if production issues don’t return and vehicles sales overall recover.
