6 — Nissan Titan
Nissan is showing laudable commitment to its Titan pickup truck, but the Japanese automaker’s product is in tough in this American-dominated segment. Last November we test drove the substantially overhauled new 2020 Titan.
How substantially? Nissan invested some $300 million CAD to revamp the model. The results include a new 10-speed automatic transmission, totally revised multimedia system, more included equipment and a simplification of the trim lineup. All of this is designed to give a new boost to the model, sales of which dropped by just over 30% in the United States in 2019.
Many will be watching to see if Nissan can turn things around in 2020, because failing improvement, there could be serious questions asked about the Titan’s future – especially since Nissan has a lot of other fish to fry right now, and has acknowledged it has some real belt-tightening to do.
