In 2023, the watchword in this segment is continuity, with few new models breaking through

The Toyota Corolla Cross, which will soon be joined by a hybrid variant in 2023, served as a precursor to what Honda would later do with the HR-V. As the new version of that HR-V is essentially a Civic made into a crossover, so the Corolla Cross took the best qualities of the Corolla sedan and migrated them to roomier SUV format.

By the way, the Corolla Cross is the only model in the Greater Corolla lineup that can be ordered with all-wheel drive without having to check the hybrid option.

For 2023, the coming electrified variant is understandably getting most of the attention. Though some of that attention is not of the wanted kind, since Toyota has been dealing with the negative effects of “cablegate” for the past few months. Let's hope the Corolla Cross Hybrid variant won’t be afflicted by the same troubles as the other hybrids in the Toyota lineup.
