Best pocket SUV: Hyundai Kona
Last year, I gave the nod in this popular urban-vehicle category to the Kia Seltos, but for 2022, the lower entry price of the older Hyundai Kona makes me lean towards the other Korean automaker’s pocket crossover. It's true that next to the new Toyota Corolla Cross, the Kona isn't as well put together. But for the price, it is unbeatable.
As for the Kona’s handling, it is surprisingly sporty, considering its subcompact car platform. The Mazda CX-30 does kick its butt on the road, but Japanese crossover’s price is simply too high for it to compete with its Korean rivals.
