Electric vehicle: 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EV/EUV

The past few months haven’t been an altogether smooth ride for the electric car sector. The worldwide recall campaign for the Hyundai Kona Electric, for one, shook the safe assumptions of a lot of observers, stakeholders and potential buyers when it comes to the benevolence of EVs. However, the Korean automaker has spared no effort in making (very expensive) fixes for all the vehicles affected by this recall. Meanwhile, Tesla is selling its Model 3 sedan as if it were a very delicious hotcake.
The Model 3 is certainly ahead of the curve in terms of technology, but there have been issues with quality of assembly and of paint finishes.
The Chevrolet Bolt was also the subject of a recall campaign, with owners being asked not to charge their battery beyond 90 percent of capacity for a few months. Here too, the manufacturer has been very active in finding fixes, and problems were largely resolved by late this past winter.
Despite the teething pains, the electric car is destined for a bright future, here as pretty much everywhere around the world. Few now argue there’s any going back, what with EV prices coming down and government emissions regulations going up.
The Bolt EV's 2022 redesign and the addition of the “slightly more utilitarian” EUV offshoot are another step in the right electrification direction for Chevrolet, not just because of the improvements made to the car, but also because there is now software that predicts fires on board.
