By 1972 the first generation was already coming to its end, mainly because that C-10 chassis the Blazer was built was GM’s previous generation unit (1967-1972). And as mentioned, it borrowed many of the style elements from that pickup as well. To distinguish the ’72 grille from the ’71 version, check out its edges: the black strip visible in the ’71 Blazer is gone in the ’72 edition. Sales of the model exploded to 44,266 4x4s and 3,357 4x2s.
