Subaru Crosstrek PHEV
Subaru presented its first plug-in Hybrid in Montreal, in a Canadian premiere (we had already test-driven it at a special event in late 2019 in the U.S.). The Crosstrek Limited PHEV 2020 with EyeSight arrives as a top-of-the-line model in the Crosstrek family. The first models arrived in dealerships on January 17 and the selling price is $42,495.
The plug-in hybrid is equipped with a 4-cylinder 2L engine and two electric motors. The first serves as a starter for the internal-combustion engine and as an alternator for the hybrid battery; the second powers the car in hybrid and electric modes, while recharging the hybrid battery during regenerative braking.
The Crosstrek PHEV can reach a top speed of 105 km/h in 100% electric mode. However, the range leaves something to be desired with only 27 km in all-electric mode. Subaru promises a total range of 774 km on a full tank of fuel.
