The Detroit show is moving in 2020… to the month of June!

We won’t lie, the North American International Auto show in Detroit was not as flashy in 2019 as it’s been in the past. The number of absentees among the manufacturers, particularly the premium brands, and the reduced number of media types in attendance, inevitably resulted in a calmer affair than we’re used to.

But this doesn’t mean the auto show didn’t welcome its share of exceptional cars, as well as some that fell short of exceptional but grabbed the imagination of those in attendance. Here are the top 8 cars that stood out for us in Detroit this year.

2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500

You can’t really talk about the Detroit show and NOT talk about the legendary Mustang. Meet the Shelby GT500, the most powerful Mustang produced to date. Its powertrain delivers up to 700 hp and takes the car from a stop to 100 km/h in 3,5 seconds, and the model’s got an explosive, highly aerodynamic look. Purists decried the disappearance of the manual gearbox, however. It’s been booted in favour of a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
